PARENT COACHING

As a Consultant Child and Educational Psychologist I work with parents to explore and unpick difficulties that may be occurring. Through this, I focus on empowering parents to feel confident to apply the things they already know and new tailored strategies to their experiences with their child. This is one of the most rewarding and beneficial services I offer and I have found it to be impactful and transformative for the parents with whom I have worked.

I use a tailored approach that blends the science of education, the psychology of child and adolescent development, research on parenting, alternative approaches and innovative tools and techniques to allow me to get to know you, your family and how your parenting style impacts you and your children.

We will work together over a period of time to explore your child’s strengths and abilities, as well as any difficulties or challenges you are facing as a parent or family, and to discuss together what strategies might be beneficial to support change and growth. This might be through some family work, work with your child and/or through on-going conversations to provide parenting support.

The investment for parent coaching is £95 per 60 minute session.

These sessions are hosted on Zoom. I can also come to your home to do a family session for an additional cost (this depends on the support required) if agreed upon. I recommend multiple sessions so that you have chance to try out the strategies we discuss together and reflect on any changes. However, each parent and family are different and my hope is to empower you to be able to apply these skills in a time frame as short as possible. Sessions include a recording of our session and a written summary of the conversation where possible (including any strategies discussed).

It is important for us to have an initial call to make sure that I feel like the right person for you to work with. I offer a free 15 minute call to discuss your hopes for the coaching sessions.

WHAT CAN I HELP WITH?

Whilst my approach can be tailored to your specific situation, examples of areas I have supported through parent coaching are:

  • To guide a greater understanding of children with neurodiversity, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and any associated needs.

  • To support parents understanding of a child’s emotional needs (including symptoms related to diagnoses such as anxiety and depression and in cases of trauma or grief/loss).

  • To unpick any areas of learning difficulty (including academic learning, such as maths and literacy skills, life skills and cognition).

  • To offer an integrative view of a child or adolescent’s needs (e.g., considering the combined impact of different areas of need such as social, emotional, cognitive, communication and interaction).

  • To support parental wellbeing and to consider how a parents own experiences of being parented might influence the parent-child relationship.

  • To support a greater understanding of family dynamics and strategies to enhance relationships (i.e., sibling relationships and parent-child relationships).

  • To support understanding of Early Years development (particularly children under 5 years old and thinking about school readiness).

  • Supporting parents whose children are finding it challenging to attend school settings who may be considering alternative educational options (including alternative provisions, homeschooling, flexi-schooling and unschooling).

  • To support with the health and wellbeing of children and adolescents (including sleep, diet, exercise and medical illness management).

  • Supporting Spiritual and Conscious Parenting through guiding the process of letting go of the self-ego, desires, and attachments to continue to develop mindful, conscious parenting styles.
